Senegal - Dakar - Travel - Jim Rogers World Adventure
Leading economic expert Jim Rogers traveled to 150 countries over 150000 miles in three years - follow his adventures here on FentonReport. In this video Jim and Paige visit Dakar in Senegal. Copyright Jim Rogers - provided as a special contribution to The Fenton Report. www.fentonreport.com Dakar is the capital city of Senegal, located on the Cape Verde Peninsula, on the country's Atlantic coast. It is Senegal's largest city. Its position, on the western edge of Africa (it is the westernmost African city), is an advantageous departure point for trans-Atlantic and European trade; this fact aided its growth into a major regional port. According to December 31, 2005 official estimates, the city of Dakar proper has a population of 1030594, whereas the population of the Dakar metropolitan area is estimated at 2.45 million people. Dakar is a major administrative centre, home to the National Assembly of Senegal and Senegal Presidential Palace. http www.atlanticfinancial.com http www.fentonreport.com

Senegal covers a land area of almost 197000 km², and has an estimated population of about 13.7 million. Dakar is the capital city of Senegal, located on the Cap-Vert Peninsula on the country's Atlantic coast. About a third of the population live below the international poverty line of US$ 1.25 a day. Family Planning Day July 2009 Dakar Senegal
This was the culmination of over a year of work. Check out the crowd... they are EXCITED ABOUT FAMILY PLANNING!! But it just wasn't a music concert. The US Ambassador was there, four government ministers. Every day 5 women in Senegal die in child birth and 40 infants die. We presented the RAPID Population Model which is a statistical modeling program that shows if Senegal could increase it's family planning rates by 40% in 30 years (a very do-able goal) they could save BILLIONS of dollars in education and healthcare costs, and save 25000 children's lives and over ONE MILLION WOMEN'S LIVES with proper birth spacing... it was a lot of fun.

Senegal: Cry Sea Land
In Senegal, 500 hi-tech European fishing vessels sail the Senegalese waters and fish enormous quantities for the European market, while the local 600000-strong population has to survive on the leftovers that they catch with their basic pirogue boats. The European vessels have radars and GPS for detecting the stocks and can fish for two months with no interruption. The Senegalese fishermen try to detect the fish stocks by looking the movements of the water, the reflection of the moon on the scales and using special amulets provided by the spiritual guides of the villages. In ten years time, the experts say that there will be no more fish in the waters of Senegal.

Habitat for Humanity Senegal
Poverty is widespread in Senegal and many flock to the cities in search of prosperity. Sadly, a large portion of the population is unemployed or surviving day to day. Some people work in industry, but even those who stay in the same job for several years may not own a home. As a result of these and many other complex issues, housing is a massive problem. Since its inception in 2001, Habitat for Humanity Senegal has partnered with people who cannot afford decent housing in the suburbs of the capital, Dakar. HFHI/ThinFilms

Senegal West Africa: Serer-sine
SOUNDS OF GLOBAL WORSHIP: SENEGAL WEST AFRICA - SERER-SINE Senegal is the western most tip of Africa and is considered the most stable of the African countries. Thirty-seven language groups are found among its population. Serer-sine is the language of this rural community three hours southeast of Dakar, the capitol city. Senegal is the home of the djembe, the large drum so commonly used far beyond its borders. The drums produce the strong rhythmic foundation of this worship song and the voices form a very contagious chant-like melody. The completion of eighteen newly composed worship songs produced this wonderful celebrative and spontaneous expression of worship. COPYRIGHT HEART SOUNDS INTERNATIONAL. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
